DEKRA as technical partner for IMSA
Since the outset of the 2015 season, DEKRA has, for the first time, been applying its experience in motor sport in an American racing series: DEKRA North America is the official technical partner of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and is involved in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
"The cooperation with IMSA functions on the basis of the international working relationship among our experts who intensively share ideas and approaches, and are so able to make optimum use of the experience they have acquired in Europe for the work in the USA", said Clemens Klinke, Member of the Executive Board at DEKRA SE and responsible for the Automotive Business Unit.?
DEKRA experts are there directly during all twelve of the season's races of the Tudor United Sports Car Championship in order to ensure that the technical acceptance procedure carried out on the racing cars corresponds with the IMSA regulations.
?"DEKRA has a long tradition of partnerships with top-class motor sport events and racing series. We are delighted to be able to now contribute these skills here as well", said Donald O. Nicholson, DEKRA Chief Regional Officer for North America.?
The DEKRA acceptance sticker is placed on the windscreen of the racing cars and this indicates that the technical acceptance examination carried out by the DEKRA experts has been passed. And not only that, DEKRA is also the title sponsor of the Green Challenge Award which is up for grabs at each race. The winner of this award is the car that used the least amount of energy to achieve the best finishing position.
"This partnership influences some of the central aspects of our work, and which are perfectly fit together with core DEKRA skills", said IMSA President Scott Atherton. The cooperation has initially been agreed for a period of five years.
